More Flood Photos

June 17th, 2008 by Todd

~~~
On Saturday I went to do more sandbagging in the Waterfront Dr. area. As you can see below, I brought Angus and Jake along this time. On Monday, I roamed around and got more images, including City Park and the art campus. The gallery says images were from the 14th and 15th, but actually it was the 14th and 16th. I got some shots of the spillway at maximum flow, too. It’s just so surreal to see so many familiar places submerged, and the constant sound of helicopters overhead lends to the eerie effect. Another large image gallery HERE.
Iowa City Flooding
June 13th, 2008 by Todd
~~~

After spending yesterday afternoon sandbagging, I decided to get out for a bit today and take some shots around campus. I’m still in shock at how bad things have become, and so fast, and can’t believe we’re looking at another five feet of water by next week. There are a few images here, and the full 175 image gallery available HERE.

Coralville Dam Control Tower

May 26th, 2008 by Todd

~~~
Recently I jumped into the world of landscape and long exposure photography, after getting some solid tips from my buddy Shawn at Prolific Photography.  I feel lucky to have this nice perspective, because the water is not often up this high (though it’s actually gone down some in the last week). With high school senior season approaching, I may not have time to do much of this kind of photography, but I am definitely hooked, so I’m sure I’ll be doing it whenever my schedule allows!
Two good games yesterday, both the J-V and the varsity, and I took LOTS of pics.  J-V is first, then some snaps of the senior night ceremony, then the varsity game.  Full gallery is HERE.
Iowa Wildflowers
May 19th, 2008 by Todd
~~~

I got up early this morning to get a few wildflower shots, and I think it was a successful outing!  Oddly though, my favorite shots (below) didn’t even have any flowers in them.  More HERE.

The Winning Goal

May 9th, 2008 by Todd

~~~
I shot a soccer game for the first time yesterday.  It was pretty fun, but I don’t know much about soccer.  The game was City High vs. CR Jefferson, and it turned out to be a really good game.  Still tied after two overtime periods, so they had to go to penalty kicks.  City High won, and the shot of the winning kick is below.  You can see a larger version HERE, and a gallery of 89 images from the game HERE.
Bo Ramsey
April 27th, 2008 by Todd
~~~

I shot another show for the Englert last night. Oddly enough for being a long-time Iowan, I had never seen Bo Ramsey play before. I was impressed! This guy put on a great show that was a lot of fun to listen to and shoot. I might be adding him to my CD collection soon.;) The full gallery from the show can be viewed HERE.

Family Session

April 16th, 2008 by Todd

~~~
I’m a bit behind on this update due to tax time.;) I did these Sunday, actually. No, I don’t normally do Sunday sessions, but it’s my cousin’s family, so I made an exception.:) I hadn’t seen them for awhile, so of course I was surprised at how fast these kids grow up! Here’s a sneak peek, a family shot plus a fun one of the kids.
Hey, Mark, when’s our next trip to Oyama??
Alejandro Escovedo!
April 3rd, 2008 by Todd
~~~

This guy has long been one of my musical heroes. I got to photograph (and meet!) him at the Englert tonight. This was the first time I had seen him do an acoustic set. Brilliant. A set composed heavily of ballads, and the audience so rapt and attentive I was sometimes hesitant to click my shutter. It was a small but very enthusiastic crowd, and both players unplugged and played out in the seats for a while. What an awesome show! David Pulkingham is the guy who played with Alejandro and added some backing vocals. His playing is incredible! A few images are below, and the full gallery is HERE.

Voom Video Portraits

March 25th, 2008 by Todd

~~~
On Sunday, Diane and I went to the Voom video portraits displayed at the UI Museum of Art. Pretty interesting stuff. It’s only around until the end of the month, so if you want to check it out, hurry up! Here are few pics I took while at the exhibit.
